Free Dog Events in Cardiff
Canton Crufts
Date TBC, The Bone Yard, Paper Mill Road, Canton, CF11 8DH | 12pm – 5pm
The Bone Yard will host Canton Crufts again this year. Dog owners can enjoy a whole host of activities, market stalls, street food, and puppucinos.
The Dog Market
Sunday 27 April 2025, Tiger Yard, Cardiff Bay | 10am – 2pm
Explore a canine shopper’s paradise at The Dog Market at Tiger Yard. This event occurs every other month on a Sunday, showcasing a diverse array of pet products, accessories, and gourmet treats for your dogs. Bring your dog along for a tail-wagging shopping experience in the heart of Cardiff. You can also enjoy some of the best street food in Cardiff!
Insole Court Dog Show
Sunday 15 June 2025, Insole Court, Llandaff, Cardiff | 10am – 4pm
Held at the historic Insole Court in Cardiff, the community dog show is a delightful canine celebration. This charming event brings together dog enthusiasts and their four-legged friends for a day filled with tail-wagging fun. With spirited dog competitions, local traders and great food from The Potting Shed. Although the event is free, there is a small charge if you wish to enter any of the categories.

Dachshund Pup Up Cafe
Saturday 3 May 2025, Brewhouse & Kitchen in Cardiff | 10am – 11.30am
Calling all Dachshund lovers! The Dachshund Pup Up Cafe in Cardiff is a delightful pop-up event dedicated entirely to these charming and distinctive dogs. Join fellow Dachshund owners for a day filled with playtime, socialising, and even unlimited puppuccinos and treats.

Wag This Way
2025 date TBC, Bute Park in Cardiff | 9.30am – 4pm
Wag This Way is an annual family fun fundraiser for City Hospice. This event, set against the picturesque backdrop of Bute Park, includes a scenic 5km sponsored walk and a pet-friendly market offering a variety of treats and accessories. The walk starts a 11am. There’s also a dog show and live music.
£10 per adult and £5 for 3–15-year-olds (Early bird prices)
Foodies Festival Cardiff
Friday 9 May to Sunday 11 May 2025, Bute Park in Cardiff | All day
Attention all foodies, music lovers, and dog owners! Foodies Festival in Cardiff is back in Cardiff this May. Indulge in street food, cooking tips, and live entertainment. You can book a visitor ticket for a single day or for the weekend! Dogs are more than welcome to attend with you as long as they are kept on a short lead.

Free Dog Events in South Wales
Dog Meets South Wales
Various dates, locations and times
Once a month, generally on a Sunday afternoon, the Dog Meet Up Facebook group organises a free, friendly walk. You could discover a new place to walk your dog and meet other like-minded owners and their pooch. Previous locations have included Barry Sidings, Cosmeston Lakes, Parc Penallta and Fforest Fawr.
Wild Tails Fun Dog Show
2025 date TBC, Tonyrefail Community School, Porth | 11am – 4pm
Organised by Hope Rescue and Wild Tails, the fun dog show is for the Most Handsome Male, Prettiest Female, Best Veteran, Wildest Tail, Doggy Dash, and so many more. There are also local market stalls, a teddy tombola and a raffle.
Bark in the Park
2025 date TBC, Victoria Park, Barry | 12pm – 4pm
Join the Bark in the Park event in Barry, a day filled with outdoor activities and games. There’s a doggy dash, agility and a fun dog show where you can win some fantastic prizes. Alongside this, there are stalls, vendors and delicious food.
Burns Dogs Day Out
2025 date TBC, Neath Port Talbot, SA13 2TJ | From 10am
Thousands of dogs and their parents will descend on Margam Park for Burns Dogs Day Out. There will be many trade and charity stalls, including pet nutritional advice and pet first aid. Plus, there will be plenty of have-a-go activities, demonstrations, and a dog show. Although free, parking charges apply.
Barkfest
Sunday 22 June 2025, Cothi Bridge Showground, Carmarthen | 11am – 5pm
Carmarthen’s Barkfest is a celebration of all things dog-related. From live music to agility courses, this event is a fantastic opportunity for dogs and their owners to enjoy a day of entertainment and relaxation. Although a free event, a £5 per car parking charge applies.
Canine Carnival
2025 date TBC, Canolfan John Burns Centre, Kidwelly | 10am – 4pm
Step up to the Canine Carnival in Kidwelly for a day of games, pet-friendly attractions, and a lively atmosphere for dogs and their families.
Dog of the Year
2025 date TBC, Llys Nini Animal Centre, Penllergaer, Swansea | 11am – 4pm
Celebrate the best of the best at the Dog of the Year event in Penllegaer. This competition brings together top dogs from various categories, showcasing their talents and charm for a chance to be crowned Dog of the Year. (Small charge of £5 per car)
BarkLife
2025 date TBC, Guildhall Square, Carmarthenshire | 10.30pm – 7pm
Barklife Dog Festival in Carmarthen is an event packed with dog-friendly activities. It’s a perfect way to celebrate summer, with dog shows, competitions, stalls, grooming glasses, children’s entertainment, live music and an outdoor cinema.
Cŵnfest Dog Festival
2025 date TBC, 15 Barn Road, Carmarthenshire | Times TBC
Cŵnfest is all about supporting local businesses and a fun day out for dog families. Alongside a dog show, trade stands, and agility, there are professional dog displays, and a chance to see talented dog groomers do their thing.
Raglan Day Festival
2025 date TBC, The Mount, Castle Road, Monmouthshire | 12pm – 4.30pm
Be part of the Raglan Day Companion Dog Show, where dogs of all shapes and sizes can strut their stuff in various categories, putting their owners through their paces, too. The event has live music, a children’s zone and stalls from local suppliers, groups and crafters.

Love Strut Sponsored Walk
Sunday 16 February 2025, Franco’s, Aberavon Beach, Port Talbot | 11.30am
The Love Strut Sponsored Dog Walk is a fantastic day out. The dog that raises the most sponsorship money for Llys Nini RSPCA wins an overnight stay for their humans at Morgans Hotel in Swansea.
£6 to register. Each dog receives a bespoke bandana and a medal.
Kanine Karnival
Saturday 20 September 2025, Caldicot Castle | 10am – 5pm
Kanine Karnival is an exciting event designed for dog lovers, bringing together pet owners and their furry companions for a day of fun, activities, and entertainment. With various events such as agility courses, dog shows, training demonstrations, and various stalls offering pet products and services.
£5 early bird tickets. £2 per entry to the dog show categories
Dog Events in Bristol
DogFest
Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September 2025, Ashton Court, Bristol | 10am – 5pm
Cross the border to Bristol and join DogFest at Ashton Court for a weekend of canine celebration. With expert talks, agility demonstrations, and various dog-friendly activities, DogFest promises an unforgettable experience for dogs and their human companions.
Tickets start from £17.50 per adult, with options for children, concessions and families
