Affordable Luxury Dog Friendly Hotel Wilmslow
With great friends who live in Handforth, a 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk from Stanneylands, we often visit the area. Usually, we stay with them, but during some bad weather, they had a flood in their house – which we were all heartbroken about. However, determined to stay (as we were attending a baby shower), I looked high and low for a dog friendly hotel in Wilmslow. So used to our regular trips to Devon and Cornwall, where accepting dogs is the norm, it was more of a challenge.
From the website, I thought Stanneylands was a pub with bedrooms. But when we pulled into the car park – there was free parking – I was pleasantly surprised!

Why Your Dog Will Love It
When we arrived, the staff at Stanneylands treated Ivan like a VIP (Very Important Pooch). There’s no extra charge for dogs, making it one of the most affordable pet friendly hotels in Wilmslow. The generously spacious rooms are a dream for dogs that like to stretch their legs or even indulge in a little zoomie session before bedtime.
Regular readers will know Ivan is a bit nervous, especially in new surroundings. He absolutely loved exploring the room, giving the plush furniture and every corner a good sniff. He even picked where he wanted his bed for the night.

The Double Room at Stanneylands has a range of thoughtful features. Here’s what was included:
- Plush Bedding: A large, comfortable double bed (the room was big enough for a King, which would have made it even better!) with soft linens and stylish furnishings – a small table and chairs, plus a desk to do some work or a make-up and hair station.
- Stylish Decor: The room could done with a bit of modernisation and a new carpet. However, it was clean. Saying that, we both remarked on the old-fashioned telephone, which we loved.
- Tea and Coffee Facilities: A kettle with a selection of teas, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits to enjoy during your stay. There was also bottled water.
- Modern Bathroom: A clean, well-equipped en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels, and a powerful shower. Our bathroom could have done with some TLC, but it was only wear and tear.
- Ample Storage: There was a huge wardrobe where you could hang up winter coats, suits and dresses. Plus, a luggage rack.

Dog Friendly Pubs Wilmslow
Stanneylands also offers a cosy bar area where dogs are warmly welcomed. While we sipped on a pint or two, Ivan lounged in comfort, receiving plenty of attention from the friendly staff. The bar area is a relaxing space with comfortable seating and a welcoming atmosphere. Dogs can’t sit in the restaurant, but the bar area is a great alternative. We didn’t have food, so we were unaware of what was on the menu and its quality.

We also opted to have breakfast, and a table was set up in the bar for us. A full buffet selection includes toast, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit and a full English. The quality of the sausages and bacon was good; alongside this were hash browns, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato and fried eggs. Their chauffeur dishes didn’t quite keep the food hot enough, but it was edible. Of course, I put an extra sausage on my plate for Ivan!
