It’s ideal for a laid-back lunch or hearty dinner after exploring the coast.

3. St Mawes Seafood Bar
Tucked away in the harbour, this small, mighty street food bar serves ultra-fresh local shellfish. Expect fresh fish, shellfish and seafood. It was one of the finest crab sandwiches I’ve ever had, using the very best locally hand-picked crabmeat. No frills, just unbeatable freshness and sea air. It’s a no-reservations spot, so grab a table when you can!

If you know, you know. Da Bara Bakery is famous in Cornwall for its life-changing cinnamon buns, and their St Mawes outpost delivers the goods. Great for a quick stop or to stock up before a day out. Their sourdough sandwiches and toasties also deserve a mention — especially the local cheese and onion chutney combo.

Book ahead, especially in summer — it’s popular for a reason.

We were upgraded to a balcony room overlooking the harbour — our dog absolutely loved people-watching and boat-spotting from his new favourite spot. The room was clean and modern, and he had space for his bed and bowls, plus essentials like a coffee pod machine and good WiFi. Parking’s easy too, with a nearby pay-and-display just a minute away (only £6 for 24 hours).
