Hotels in Tiverton Devon
If you’re looking for places to stay in Tiverton that genuinely welcome dogs (not just tolerate them), Tiverton Hotel & Lounge is a solid choice. We stayed here in January, so it was naturally quieter, which made it perfect for a relaxed break with our dog, Ivan.
First Impressions & Check-In
The Tiverton Hotel Lounge & Venue is easy to find and has free parking, which is always a win when you’re travelling with a dog and bags. Check-in was straightforward and welcoming, with thoughtful dog-friendly touches right from the start – a water station if you needed a quick hydrate, plus dog biscuits on the desk. Small details, but ones dog owners really appreciate after a journey.
The Room: Space Matters When You Have a Dog
We stayed in a Superior Double Room, and space is where this hotel really shines. The décor and furniture are a little old-fashioned, but everything was spotless and well-maintained.

There was plenty of room for our bags and Ivan’s things, including his bed. On entering the room, we found two dog bowls, a pet blanket and treats – a genuinely lovely surprise. I ended up using these instead of the ones we’d brought from home.
Our room overlooked the car park, but it was incredibly quiet. We had a very good night’s sleep and didn’t hear other guests moving around or slamming doors – ideal if you’ve got a dog that’s easily disturbed by noise.

Room features included:
- Queen-size bed
- En-suite bathroom
- TV
- Tea and coffee facilities with biscuits (replenished during our stay)
- Towels and toiletries, with hand soap, moisturiser and shower gel on wall-mounted pumps
- Open closet near the entrance with plenty of sturdy hangers
- Iron and ironing board
- Extra blankets
- Shelving for luggage and dog essentials
- Vanity desk with mirror
- Office desk and chair
- Small round table with tub chairs
Breakfast With a Dog
Dogs aren’t allowed in the main restaurant, but this was handled brilliantly. A table was set up for us in the bar area so we could still enjoy breakfast together, which made the experience feel inclusive rather than awkward.
The bread was great on the first morning and slightly less so on the second, but overall the choice and quality were very good.

The breakfast selection was impressive:
- Tea and a coffee machine with syrups (caramel, vanilla and hazelnut)
- Juices and water
- Sausages
- Bacon
- Fried and scrambled eggs
- Large hash browns
- Mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and baked beans
- Ketchup, brown sauce etc, including Tabasco and Worcestershire sauce
- Fruit and yoghurts
- Cereals and pastries
- Pancakes cooked to order

Things Around the Hotel
If you like to keep active while travelling, OJ Gym is practically next door to the hotel, making it very easy to fit in a workout. There’s also a large Tesco less than a five-minute walk away, which is handy for picking up snacks or essentials. It has electric car charging points if you’re travelling with an EV.

Dog Friendly Pubs Tiverton
There are plenty of dog-friendly pubs in Tiverton Devon, although it’s worth noting that none of them serve food. Because of this, we opted for a takeaway on our first night and ate it back in our bedroom. On night two, we dined at Tiverton Steakhouse, where Ivan was welcome but needed to stay under the table. Thankfully, he was completely exhausted and happily settled down to sleep.

We especially loved The Corner House, which had an excellent selection of boxed ciders and ales. There were plenty of board games and cards on the tables, so we played a few rounds. The Racecourse was another favourite, where Ivan was even allowed to snooze on the sofa (on a blanket), while The Queens Head had a great, friendly atmosphere with lots of other dogs around for socialising.
