St Mellanus’ Church
The St Mellanus’ Church sits right in the centre of the village. It dates back to the 13th century and is worth a look if you like old buildings or just want a bit of peace and quiet.

Mullion Cove
Mullion Cove is about a 25-minute walk from the village. The walk is easy, with shops and cafés along the way. You’ll also pass Lizard Adventure if you fancy trying kayaking or coasteering.
At the cove, there’s a peaceful little harbour that feels miles away from the busier Cornish spots. It’s a good place for a gentle stroll or to sit with a coffee or ice cream and watch the boats.

Chocolate Factory & Craft Centre
Halfway between Mullion village and Mullion Cove, the Chocolate Factory & Craft Centre is a bit of a hidden gem. It’s packed with small, independent businesses and has a proper local feel. Here’s what you’ll find:
- Watch chocolate being made – skilled chocolatiers at work, turning Belgian chocolate into bars, truffles, and all sorts of novelty shapes. There are usually samples, so don’t be shy.
- Gallery Anthony – showcasing artwork from local artists, with regular classes and demonstrations.
- Mullion Glass Studio – offering fused-glass workshops if you fancy a hands-on creative experience.
- Honey Cosmetics – handmade skincare products using local honey, ideal for sensitive skin.
- Serendipity – a treasure trove of crystals, fossils, jewellery, books, and unique gifts.
- Rock Paper Scissors – great for souvenirs, puzzles, craft kits, and family-friendly bits.
- Mullion Mades – handmade knitted and crocheted items, plus supplies if you’re feeling crafty.
- Coffee shop – good for a relaxed break before heading off again.

Mullion Cove Spa
If you want to unwind, Mullion Cove is a good spot. There’s an outdoor swimming pool with Atlantic views (heated from March to October), a sauna, and a hydropool. You can book spa treatments too.

You can even stay the night in the adult-only hotel. It’s one of the most romantic cliff-top spa hotels in the UK. They even have some dog-friendly rooms and apartments, with a doggy lounge and a complimentary welcome pack for all dogs.
Polurrian Cove
Polurrian Cove is a 15–20 minute walk from the village and feels much wilder. Dramatic cliffs, big views, and usually fewer people. It’s a great spot for a dog walk. There’s no parking, no facilities, and no toilets, so come prepared. You can also walk here from Mullion Cove along the coast path in about 20 minutes.

South West Coast Path
You can join the South West Coast Path straight from Mullion. The sections around here are especially good – rugged cliffs, sea views, and plenty of places to stop for a breather. It’s ideal for long walks with your dog.

If you’re staying in Mullion, you’re in a good spot for exploring. There are some brilliant coastal walks, pretty villages, and plenty of places worth the short drive.
Poldhu Cove
22-minute walk from Mullion, or a 4-minute drive
Poldhu Cove is just a short drive away. It’s a sandy, sheltered beach where you’ll see locals walking their dogs and surfers out in the waves. There’s a café for a well-earned break too.
It has a National Trust pay-and-display car park. National Trust Members get free parking.

Bonython Estate Gardens
6-minute drive from Mullion
Bonython Gardens is a quieter spot than Cornwall’s bigger gardens. There are 20 acres to explore, with colourful planting, three lakes, a walled garden, and woodland walks. You’ll spot South African plants, wildflower meadows, and a silver birch wood, all around a historic manor house.

Cadgwith Cove
10-minute drive from Mullion
Cadgwith Cove is all thatched cottages, fishing boats, and narrow lanes. You can watch the fishermen bring in their catch, explore the small beach, or stop at the pub for a drink. It’s one of the most authentic spots on the Lizard Peninsula.


Goonhilly Downs National Nature Reserve
12-minute drive from Mullion
Goonhilly Downs is all wide open space and rare wildlife. It’s a good choice if you want to escape the crowds and try something different. It’s also home to the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station, which is the biggest in the world.

Lizard Point
12-minute drive from Mullion
Lizard Point is the most southerly spot on mainland Britain. It’s all dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and big sea views. Great for coastal walks and wildlife spotting. Look out for seals and seabirds along the way. The Witchball in the village is the UK’s most southerly pub.
It has a National Trust pay-and-display car park. National Trust Members get free parking.


Helston
19-minute drive from Mullion
Helston is a traditional Cornish market town, best known for Flora Day. You can wander the old streets, browse independent shops, and grab a proper Cornish pasty. There are good walks around the Cober Valley and easy access to the coast.
While you’re there, pop into The Blue Anchor Inn – one of Cornwall’s oldest pubs and home to Spingo ale. The Museum of Cornish Life and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary are both dog-friendly too.
Kynance Cove
19-minute drive from Mullion
Kynance Cove is one of Cornwall’s most photographed beaches. Turquoise water, white sand, and dramatic rocks. At low tide, you can explore caves and hidden coves. The coastal paths above have some of the best views around. It does get busy, but it’s worth it.

Helford
23-minute drive from Mullion
Helford is a quiet village on the river, all wooded creeks and calm water. It’s good for kayaking, riverside walks, or just sitting back and enjoying the peace. The Shipwright’s Arms is a solid spot for a drink with a view.
Coverack
24-minute drive from Mullion
Coverack is a peaceful fishing village with a laid-back feel. The crescent-shaped bay is good for swimming and paddleboarding, and the harbour is nice for a gentle stroll. It’s also a handy starting point for coastal walks with plenty of photo stops.

Godolphin
30-minute drive from Mullion
Godolphin House is run by the National Trust and has a good mix of gardens, history, and peaceful walks. Highlights include the 16th-century King’s Garden, the Inner Courtyard, ancient woodlands with bluebells, and big views from Godolphin Hill.

St Michael’s Mount & Marazion
36-minute drive from Mullion
Rising dramatically from the sea, St Michael’s Mount is one of Cornwall’s most iconic landmarks. Walk across the causeway at low tide or take a boat when the water comes in. Explore the historic castle, wander the subtropical gardens, and take in incredible views across Mount’s Bay.


National Trust Members get free entry, which can save a decent amount, as it’s £37 per person.

Marazion has a relaxed, beachy feel. The long sandy beach is great for walking, especially with a dog. There are plenty of cafés and galleries to dip into as you go.

Places To Eat In Mullion
Whether you want a cosy pub, a quick bite by the sea, or something a bit special, Mullion has plenty of good places to eat.
The Old Inn Mullion
If you want somewhere reliable, relaxed, and properly dog-friendly, The Old Inn Mullion is a good shout. It’s got a cosy pub feel with low beams and a welcoming atmosphere – just what you want after a day out. The menu covers all the classics: burgers, fish and chips, hunters’ chicken, pasta, and even woodfired pizzas. Sunday lunch is solid, and there’s sometimes live music too.


Mounts Bay Inn
The Mounts Bay Inn is another easy, laid-back spot for a casual meal. The menu is all about comfort food: fish pie, big burgers, and stone-baked pizzas. If you’re here at the weekend, Saturday burger night is worth planning for.
Porthmellin Cafe
Porthmellin Café sits right by the cove and is spot-on for a relaxed, no-fuss bite with a sea view. It’s ideal after a walk or a morning exploring Mullion Cove. The crab sandwiches are a highlight, but there are plenty of other light bites and drinks if you want to hang around by the water.
Stay in Mullion
Good food makes a big difference to any trip, whether you’re here for walks, beaches, or just a Cornish escape. Having somewhere reliable and genuinely tasty to eat each night is a real bonus. I’ve started looking for pubs with rooms when I travel – you get a bit of everything: character, cosy rooms, and great food all in one place.
The Old Inn Mullion
We stayed at The Old Inn in Mullion. Our room was big and bright, with everything we needed. Best of all, our dog was welcome everywhere, which made the whole stay feel much more relaxed.



The pub is a real highlight, with great food and plenty of drinks to choose from. Breakfast is cooked to order and always good (they do a perfect poached egg). It’s quiet at night, and the car park opposite is handy.
